 Giant Muffaletta Sandwich ????

A towering, mouthwatering sandwich filled with layers of savory Italian meats, melty cheeses, and a zesty olive salad. Ideal for gatherings, outdoor meals, or when you’re in the mood for something filling and flavorful!

 Ingredients:

– 1 large round Italian bread loaf (approx. 10 inches in diameter)

– ¼ cup olive oil (for brushing)

– 1 tsp dried oregano (for flavor)

– 1 tsp dried basil (for a herby kick)

– ¼ lb thinly sliced turkey ham (tender and savory)

– ¼ lb thinly sliced beef salami (spicy and bold)

– ¼ lb thinly sliced mortadella (rich and smooth)

– ¼ lb sliced provolone cheese (sharp and creamy)

– ¼ lb sliced mozzarella cheese (mild and melty)

– 1 cup olive salad (store-bought or homemade — see notes for a quick recipe)

– ¼ cup sliced pepperoncini peppers (optional, for extra tang)

Instructions:

**Step 1: Prepare the Bread**

Slice the round loaf of Italian bread in half horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.

**Step 2: Make the Herb Oil**

In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, oregano, and basil. Brush this herb-infused oil generously onto the cut sides of the bread.

**Step 3: Layer the Ingredients**

On the bottom half of the bread, layer the following ingredients in order:

– Turkey ham

– Beef salami

– Mortadella

– Provolone cheese

– Mozzarella cheese

Then, spread the olive salad evenly over the cheese layer. If you like a little extra heat, add sliced pepperoncini peppers on top.

**Step 4: Assemble and Compress**

Place the top half of the bread onto the layered fillings and press down gently. Wrap the entire sandwich tightly in plastic wrap. Place a heavy item (like a cast-iron skillet) on top to help press the sandwich. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the sandwich to compress.

**Step 5: Serve**

Before serving, remove the plastic wrap and slice the sandwich into wedges with a sharp knife. Enjoy!
