Making homemade Krispy Kreme-style donuts can be a fun and delicious project. Here’s a recipe to help you recreate their classic glazed donuts: Ingredients: For the doughnuts: 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast ¼ cup warm water 1 cup warm milk ½ cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 2 large eggs 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour Vegetable oil, for frying For the glaze: 3 cups powdered sugar ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ cup hot water Instructions: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, salt, eggs, softened butter, and 2 cups of flour. Mix until well combined. Add the yeast mixture to the bowl and stir again. Gradually add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Once the dough comes together, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to a ½-inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter or two round biscuit cutters (one larger and one smaller) to cut out the donuts and donut holes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the donuts with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until they puff up. While the donuts are rising, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water until you have a smooth glaze.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to a temperature of 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few donuts into the hot oil, cooking them for about 1-2 minutes per side until they turn golden brown. Flip them using a slotted spoon or tongs. Once the donuts are cooked, transfer them to a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. While the donuts are still warm, dip them into the glaze, making sure to coat both sides. You can also dip the donut holes in the glaze. Place the glazed donuts on a wire rack to set. The glaze will harden slightly as it cools. Repeat the frying and glazing process with the remaining donuts and donut holes. Allow the glaze to fully set before enjoying your homemade Krispy Kreme-style donuts. Note: These donuts are best enjoyed fresh on the day they are made. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
