Better Than Anything Toffee is a delightful treat that combines the richness of chocolate, the sweetness of caramel, and the crunch of almonds.

Here’s a simple recipe for you:

Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks) 1 cup granulated sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 cup chopped almonds or pecans (toasted, if desired) Sea salt flakes for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions: Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly with butter or cooking spray.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the granulated sugar and salt. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture becomes smooth.

Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches a temperature of 285°F (140°C) on a candy thermometer. This stage is known as the hard crack stage.

Once the mixture reaches the hard crack stage, remove it from the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it out evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee layer.

Allow them to sit for a few minutes to soften from the heat of the toffee. Once the chocolate chips have softened, use a spatula to spread them evenly over the surface of the toffee, creating a smooth chocolate layer. Sprinkle the chopped almonds or pecans evenly over the melted chocolate layer. Press them gently into the chocolate. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over the top for a hint of saltiness to balance the sweetness.

Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 1 hour, or until the toffee is completely set and the chocolate is firm.

Once set, remove the toffee from the refrigerator and break it into pieces using a sharp knife or by hand.
